What is BioMedizone?

Biomedical engineering is one of the newest fields to start thriving, so opportunities are difficult to come by for many students. This creates a large gap – resourced, fortunate students can have lots of exposure and experience, but other students can’t. BioMedizone solves this issue – it’s an organization whose overarching aim is to create exposure for students in the biomedical industry, which involves combining biology and engineering to make technological advancements in medical devices, procedures, and patient care.

How does BioMedizone do this?

BioMedizone offers a variety of resources and outreach programs to students, including those in third world countries. First, BioMezidone frequently hosts webinars which people can attend to learn more about BME. Specifically, we invite experts in the field to speak on their experiences working in BME, along with BME students who teach specific content to those interested. In addition, BioMedizone offers research and internship opportunities through different BME collegiate institutions, which can captivate students’s interest and develop the field of biomedical engineering even more. But arguably the best program of BioMedizone is the free or low-cost self-paced courses related to BME that anybody can take. This bridges the otherwise unfixable gap, leveling the playing field so everyone can have an equal opportunity to feed their interest in biomedical engineering.

How does BioMedizone reach out to the community?

BioMedizone has strong outreach programs which allows people to learn about their interest and potential future in biomedical engineering. Particularly, BioMedizone holds summer camps that present biomedical information in a fun and engaging way so that all audiences can learn about the fundamentals of biomedical engineering. These are typically held virtually, although the NJ BioMedizone Chapter is currently working to organize these camps to be in-person. These camps are accessible and very low-cost to attend.
